Working To Save Lives
Thursday, 12 April 2007
We are dedicated to saving lives and helping victims of disaster around the world.  Today, you have a chance to make a difference.  DisasterService.org is the website for Disaster Services International the disaster relief division of Southern Search & Rescue, Inc., therefore, an mention of Disaster Services International or it's operations is in reference to the disaster relief/response teams of Southern Search & Rescue, Inc.katrinatrack1.jpg

We are looking for members that wish to volunteer to help during disasters around the nation and internationally, when possible.  By having a large volunteer base across the nation, we are able to respond faster and help more people in the initial response of a disaster.  In some places, having disaster service personal that are a part of our search and rescue operations, will sometimes allow our members to be in a disaster zone when the disaster is taking place or right after it has happened.  To learn more about our USAR program, you need to visit our main website SouthernRescue.org.

If you do not wish to volunteer, but wish to help in another way, you can make a donation to our  disaster response fund and now that your donation is going to help where we say it will.  Our disaster relief program is proud to say that we are 1 of only a handful of non-profits (disaster relief and otherwise) that can proudly claim that no less than 90% to 95% or more of all funds raised for our projects go to that project.  Most non-profits in the US remain around the national standard of 65% of fund go to their projects.  What does that mean?  Well, if you were to donate $1.00 to our efforts no less than 90¢, but usually 95¢ to $1.00 goes to the intended project of fund, while if you donated to another organization, only 65¢ of every dollar would be used as stated (which is legal).  We insure that at least 30¢ or more of each dollar is used to its fullest potential.

We are always accepting donations that can be placed into our response/relief fund all year long.  You do not have to wait until a disaster strikes, as this may sometimes be to late and will cause us to take longer to help those that need it.
